Extend your knowledge

In order to train your skills before the CTF, we have arranged several workshops that will be held during the morning. These workshops will cover various topics in Cyber Security. For the current edition, you can choose between: Android hacking, ROP exploitation (memory corruption), and a suprise workshop by StudSec. The suprise workshop will be announced early October at the latest. All workshops will be held on-site. However, if you are unable to attend in person, please let us know and we can try to arrange a remote option (no promises).

Web hacking

Josephine Dodde

StudSec

Josephine is a member of StudSec, a cyber security association located at VU University Amsterdam. She is a junior software engineer currently working at Bol. Balancing a full-time job with a full-time masters of Computer Science at VU/UvA. Additionally, she loves to be involved in the community regularly attending events to promote the graduate program of Bol.

In this workshop Josephine will teach you the basics of web hacking. You will learn how to find and exploit common vulnerabilities in web applications.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. No prior experience is required at all.




Android hacking

Rick de Jager and Thijs Molendijk

Rick and Thijs are both ex-TeamNL CTF players from the Challenge The Cyber program.

Rick also participated in the International Cyber security Challenge (ICC) and is now working as a private researcher. He has achieved various successes in the Pwn2Own competition.

Thijs created his first iOS app at just 11 years old and is now working at Zero IT lab. Whenever he is not working, he is playing CTFs internationally.

In this workshop they will walk you through the basics of Android hacking. No previous knowledge on Android hacking is required. However, participants are expected to know their way around a disassembler.

Experienced CTFers and participants who also were at Hack{h}erQuest2025 last year are encouraged choose this workshop. If you are less experienced but would still like to attend, please send an email to:

Lisanne Weidmann

ROP exploitation

Lisanne Weidmann

Lisanne is an ex-TeamNL CTF player from the Challenge The Cyber program. She also has some work experience as a Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst. She is currently doing an internship at Cescalabs in hardware security as part of her master's degree.

In this workshops Lisanne will give you an introduction into memory exploitation through Return Oriented Programming (ROP). She will explain the basics and teach you how to build a simple ROP chain.

This workshop is suitable for participants with basic Linux knowledge. No prior experience with memory exploitation is required. Some CTF experience is recommended, but not necessary. If you are less experienced but would still like to attend, please send an email to
